No — Midges and mosquitoes look similar at a glance but Midges don't have biting mouthparts and can't bite humans. The dense swarms you're seeing are mating aggregations of male Midges. If you can examine them up close, Midge males have feathery brush-like antennae while mosquitoes have thin antennae. Midges are essentially harmless but visually similar.

Can I get rid of the breeding source? +

Depends on the source.
